No Way REALLY! Jiffy Lube Lied!

 

 

Some told me don’t mention the name of the company. I’m here to say my new customer with his nice f350 6.0 power stroke had me install Amsoil’s best diesel oil along with TvT Ex 10 Extender filter which is a fine micron bypass filter manufactured locally in Kent Washington.

With the good oil and the Extender bypass- fine micron bypass filter my customer can fully expect to see 70 thousand miles using the same oil, while having the oil per ISO code remain cleaner than it pours out of the bottle with the viscosity maintained.  On top of this Soot, water and wear particles are filtered through a proprietary patented media that per testing bench results demonstrate between a half to one micron.

OK so the Lie, my customer for 30 thousand miles has 8 receipts of oil changes at 180 dollars a pop. Well they changed the oil but never the filter! Yes the cartridge filter cap was so tight, I had to have my strong 23 year old son push with a 3.5 foot crescent wrench. Finally I did and then hit the wrench about 10 times with a small sledge hammer!

When it broke the filter was a dilapidated original factory filter-Jiffy lube never changed. let me restate that NEVER CHANGED!…NEVER…

The fun thing was the cost of the 25,000 mile rated oil and filter was less than Jiffy lubes fee for 3,000 miles.  With the E 10 Extender filter my customer will be able to go 70k miles.  We will do oil testing and build another case study of demonstrated out standing results. And again one more customer will experience increase fuel economy and performance. The 3000 mile oil myth is a myth.

Is the equation Just OIL? No… Coolant matters!

I really Like dolphins, these incredible mammals have 41 known species. Did you know a pregnant dolphin takes 10-12 months to give birth to its baby and that Dolphins live up to 40 years. I like being involved with such incredible projects as fine micron bypass filters knowing that folks will be able to go 60,000 miles or more per testing on a single oil change, with next to no engine wear. The most over looked issue on vehicles and equipment is in fact the coolant corrosion level.  Many folks have never heard of test strips that demonstrate if your running corrosive coolant or not. Many folks have temperature testers and that is good-however like oil you must understand if the material has become acidic or corrosive. A good Tip for you on Oil Checks

This Morning, I visited with a customer and was addressing lubrication needs and something classic happened. I checked the dipstick and the oil stick showed over full.  The customer stated just yesterday he was sure it was Low.  I indicated that on some types of vehicle and their condition that you need to open the Oil fill to allow air into the engine as some times a vacuum would form and give you a inaccurate reading.  It’s funny. I have had some old timers tell me Bunk on that one (usually the same group that swears by the 3000 mile oil myth)! It’s always fun to prove it-countless times I have.

Anyhow with my customer we opened the oil fill on the Nice Car and sure enough after 30 seconds had passed the oil read low on the dipstick! The key is and I explained this is after your done make darn sure you replace your oil fill cap, as it would be easy to over look.

After this and adding a half-quart of the best Amsoil full synthetic Engine Oil, the subject came up of fine micron bypass filters came up and it was fun o speak with an intelligent doctor and his scientist wife. The Lube shops destroy 1 out of 20 drain plugs!

I have found 1 out of 20 drain plugs destroyed while doing mobile oil changes. Today I met one and thank goodness I have a special socket set to take them off and carry my custom made plug and gasket box.  Our I would of been up a creek with out a paddle.

When TvT does a mobile or come to you oil change many things take place that normally do not happen at the quick lube shop. One of the main things is attention to detail and after the procedure is done I run the vehicle checking for leaks.

TvT use a true engine and transmission flush because, I tested the effect of the Amsoil product with science.  I get bored of the so called self promoted experts that have no science.  I have use new vehicles and used vehicles and taken a operating temp oil sample via dip sitck then ran the flush product and taken a sample form the same location after 40 minutes. Every time incredible difference was noted, Thus I use the product every time I do an oil change-It’s That Good! Best of all its does not affect seals and is proprietary mixture Amsoil has.

If a customer can not afford 8.50 for good insurance to remove sludge varnish and deposits and trust my experience on the matter, then the equation becomes simple. That person does not care about the internals of their vehicle. Especially,  if you have a diesel rig or equipment!

Today I was glad I had my kit and replaced a mangled plug and shook my head at the maintenance records of the company who did the damage. Bottom line the so called synthetic oil change my customer had done, again had a 85 cent poor paper internal media filter and the cost was 12 dollars more than my set up which last for 25,000 miles.

Amsoil and Fine Micron Bypass Filters go Relax

We went camping, In the midst of relaxing we met some wonderful folks and were able to share about Amsoil and our fine micron bypass filters the TvT ones.

The 72 inch Amsoil logo with my 1 800 827 9551 number helped tell folks but it was amazing how many folks, recreation wise knew what amsoil was and wanted me to do a future oil change and set them up with a fine micron bypass filter. Something about the under 55 crowd, they are very open to honest proven ways to save money and have their vehicles last longer. I find it cool and really enjoy all age groups but when folks are open it is so much more fun just sharing from the heart.

Apple Macs and Fine Micron Bypass Filters is it 1988?

When I was younger I would go at a pace of 20 hours a day and function on little sleep.  Today as a mid forty fellow if I do not get my 8 hours in my internal engine gets tired. Needless to say today was a 20 hour day and I will be sleeping in, in the AM.

That being said I have been in fabrication mode and in my favorite phase, research and development.  During these times I keep my steno pad near as countless improvements and ideas come. Today I could not help think how many people today still think the earth is Flat and yet are not prepared for natural disasters, are foolish with their very methods of transportation wasting thousand upon thousand of dollars and in so many issues we have so far to go to improve our way of life and live life to the fullest.

Fine Micron bypass filters have the potential to change the big picture of the oil imprint we use in this country and the world for that matter. The true Go-Green stuff that really works. The future of electric vehicles will not be just plug and go. It will be water and or highly energy smog free generators that charge the electric machines as they go.  The countless technologies like plasma and many other exciting venues can not be stopped.  The conspiracy theory folks are nut balls. What makes us awesome here in the USA is we make things. New things and we tinker and improve.  Its called Yankee ingenuity, its what makes America strong.  The days of the crooked politicians shutting down Preston Thomas Tucker are over.  But don’t get me wrong with wisdom TvT and other are going forward on some cools stuff.

With a a fine micron Bypass Filter if a person is smart enough to install one and still changes their oil at 3000 miles and filter, well let me just say TvT would be happy to use that product as it is perfectly good for less fortunate folks who can not afford oil.

That oil should last and the primary filter go a long distance. With 24 hours in a day my Blog time has been Limited.  I hope you enjoy this ongoing Blog site, as I bring good common sense information on Fine micron Bypass Filters.

As noted in other post….. I AM NOT AN ENGLISH MAJOR….

In order to make the Fine micron bypass filter work the best we recommend the use of AMSOIL synthetics and all filters.  Our TvT one micron fine bypass filter is separate from AMSOIL lubricants.

Because of the TBN number (High Alkaline Start NUMBER) we use Amsoil.  Plus the fact they were the first ever in 100 percent synthetic lubrication company started in 1972.

To grab your attention with beauty and class and yet Blog about something like oil and filters, takes some creative work on my part as I dislike our written language very much.

 AMSOIL, INC. set out to examine the specifics of the overly broad “Nothing Outperforms…” Mobil claim. AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil (ASL) and Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30 Motor Oil were analyzed in five key bench tests measuring motor oil performance: NOACK volatility, flash/fire point, pour point, four ball wear and total base number (TBN). As shown in the charts below, AMSOIL outperformed Mobil 1 in all five areas.

NOACK Volatility

Why the fancy terms? What is ……The NOACK Volatility Test determines the evaporation loss of lubricants in high-temperature service. The more motor oils vaporize, the thicker and heavier they become, contributing to poor circulation, reduced fuel economy, increased oil consumption and excessive wear and emissions. A maximum of 15 percent evaporation loss is allowable to meet the API SL and ILSAC GF-3 specifications. As shown in the graph, AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil lost an extremely low 4.9 percent of its original weight during high-temperature service, maintaining its superior protective and performance qualities, while Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30 Motor Oil lost 9.17 percent of its original weight. This is huge and many do not understand this at All.

Four Ball Wear

The Four Ball Wear Test determines the wear protection properties of a lubricant by measuring the wear scars produced by four metal balls in sliding contact under the test parameters. The smaller the average wear scar, the better the wear protection provided by the lubricant. As shown in the graph, AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil completed the Four Ball Wear Test producing a smaller wear scar than the Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30 Motor Oil. Better lubricant is the bottom line.

Flash/Fire Point

The Flash/Fire Point Test determines the lowest temperatures at which application of a flame will cause lubricant vapors to ignite (flash point) and sustain burning for five seconds (fire point). Lubricants with higher flash and fire points exhibit more stable volatility characteristics and are safer to use and transport. As shown in the graph, AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil has higher flash and fire points than does Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30 Motor Oil.

Pour Point

The Pour Point Test determines the lowest temperature at which a lubricant flows. The lower a lubricant’s pour point, the better protection it provides in low-temperature service. As shown in the graph, AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil has a lower pour point than Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30 Motor Oil. This means when cold the ability to provide lubrication to key parts.

Total Base Number

Total Base Number (TBN) (The most misunderstood Factor)is the measurement of a lubricant’s reserve alkalinity. The higher a motor oil’s TBN, the more effective it is in handling contaminants and reducing the corrosive effects of acids for an extended period of time(Grasp This). As shown in the graph, AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil has a higher TBN than Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30 Motor Oil.

The perfection of fine micron bypass filter has taken quite some time. By fine I’m talking 1 micron not 2 micron like the famous Amsoil literally  a very good proven filter. Don’t Let the Grammar Loose You!

I admit fully I am not a professional editor, but am a writer, a poet and a general all around problem solver.  Several of my post when I first post them have many embarrassing errors to the language. As time goes on I find and fix them and recently have gotten some help from an old friend. So the odds are if you see a error in a post eventually someone will fix it for me. I often ponder if when I was in school, if I was not drawing cool spaceships no body has seen yet, and advanced fast machines like my version of R G Le Tourneau earth movers, which quite funny look something like modern day Transformers as portrayed in the new 3 movies.

Not to toot my Horn, but I was and am a true Nerd, I had two sets of encyclopedias, and I read them. In addition to this I had a comprehensive National geographic Collection of about 65 years and had many from the early 1900′s and some from the 1800′s.  This mixed with my popular science and mechanics gave me a huge data base and I developed into a high speed reader with high comprehension. But spelling and grammar…well its like my brain fires at 7-9,000 Rpm and spelling and writing is like a 100 rpm or slow boat to china pace and thus I appear like a moron in my written text…LOL

But I have been encouraged by an author of three books who has very good english and she confided that she uses an editor and apparently us idea folks most all really need an editor!

So my point in this post is if your hung up on perfect english my Blogs are far from it but contain some wonderful information. As time evolves they will also.

I purchased it, used at 190k, replaced the transmission and outfitted with Tvt fine micron Bypass filters for the Engine and Transmission.  Also I only run my top recommend oil in it and keep diligent records. Bottom line fully loaded-almost over loaded after 1500 miles, we averaged 31 mpg.

Your vehicle or equipment is like your body. If you put garbage in it runs like Yuck. Jiffy Lube shops, which for the most part have a bad rap with us as we constantly fix problems, associated with quick lube shops. Over 70 percent of Jiffy Lube shops right now acknowledge the extended drain intervals recommended by the manufacture to the customer. The 3000 mile oil myth customers at least will begin to get educated that modern oils can last longer and do not break down like oils of 40 years ago.

Saving resources having equipment last longer and perform like new is not only cool it is smart.  We just took a business trip and logged over 1500 miles travel in our experimental modified dodge mini van that has 250 thousand miles on it. The key part here is bragging rights on several aspects.

First we were loaded to the gills with equipment and the family came along to combine work with enjoying the beautiful Oregon coast.  Our bottom line fuel mileage averaged 31 mpg! Nobody in a minivan gets this! And ours is16 years old with 250 thousand miles! Ponder that for a moment! what if ten million Americans got 31 mpg in their mini vans? How much money would each of them save in such hard times?

Our TvT experimental van has several factors into the Equation of obtainng 31 mpg.  First and foremost I use a fuel modifier that deal with poor gas and the 10 percent ethanol. Second I use a fine micron, high air flow 100,000 mile air filter. Third my engine oil every ounce of it is cleaner that when it was poured out of the bottle because of the TvT fine Micron Filter. These clean environments creates less friction and wear to the internals.  So my engine functions very efficient. Further more the oil I use, has the very best base stock so it can run and does not break down from the every best additives.  My base oil with out my bypass filter can go 25,000 miles before break down.

I have analytical calibrated gauges on my vehicle that demonstrate accurate oil temp and pressure and with many miles far in excess of the 3000 mile oil myth the oil functions perfect.  Further more I take samples and send them to the lab for comprehensive oil analysis.  In addition to the gauges and testing, I have a fantastic device that lets me test the oil in the field called a portable oil monitor. This device lets me check the integrity of the oil simply from a drip off my dipstick. A very awesome tool to be able to check the condition of oil in the field it is an incredible in the field tester(no waiting for the lab on an immediate failure issue!).

A key issue that many do not understand with oil is the alkaline and acidic effect of the oil and its ability to resist chemical break down.  Fuel effect plays a major role in this equation. By using superior Lubricants with top of the line base stock and additives the oil resist the break down process more efficient than others.  This however is only one factor to consider, there is many other in the equation.  Another factor is the true wear scar allowed by the oil under extremes which engines produce metal to metal moving parts-this is a very misunderstood factor that many think they understand-but only scientific science non biased proves the results.  Another key is the boil off ability or evaporation of the oil-most have never heard of this.

A huge factor folks have no idea about in engine oil is what products produce engine deposits and sludge and why does this happen?  The answer is this simple, the oil has to have built stability to chemically resist these factors. That’s why our two top picks are Amsoil and Mobile One.  Sludge and deposits are cancer to your engine. They stop the proper flow and proper lubrication to crucial parts quickly and consistently. Thus, reducing you engine life and overall operation.

Since the last several paragraphs have been on engine oil and attempting to demonstrate why there are several factors in having a long lasting vehicle perform better. We need to evaluate issues like people did in the 50′s when it was taught change your oil every 3000 miles, the smart folks taught this and the wise ones applied it. It seemed so simple to understand, but you also had a few generations teaching it.

Millions did not and their vehicles and equipment wore our or had catastropic failure. Today we simply are metaphorically updating the software and telling you run high grade synthetics and a TvT fine micron bypass filter and your internals will function cleaner than the lubricant being pored from the bottle directly into your vehicle during lubrication change. A true update and transform your thinking statement that is Factual.

Let me state this another way in case you missed it. When your vehicle or equipment is running the internals are functioning cleaner fluid wise than when the fresh oil change happened! This means so many things. My dad and his family value their money and are wise stewards and take care of things they have had. Ok, the TvT Mini Van experimental transmission, At 190k miles I had it rebuilt and the mechanic did some dodge upgrades as this era transmission is very prone to failure. Because of its failure ratio it seemed a perfect test model! I installed a new filter internal and of course the highest grade of synthetic transmission fluid available from my number one company. In addition to this we fabricated and installed our own TvT Fine Micron filter system and my entire transmission functions in a 1 micron clean environment.  This is unheard of in the auto industry. And we feel very strong every vehicle should run this way that has a auto transmission.

Amsoil Magazine July 2011-FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT

I received a phone call recently from a local man who had a few ties to AMSOIL. His name is Dave Esse. Dave is a high school hockey coach from a small community in the region and has had tremendous influence on many young men throughout the years. As a coach he is quite successful. Several of his players have gone on to have productive careers in the National Hockey League. Dave is also local stock car driver. His success in that arena is not quite as noteworthy, but even with the small budget he has to work with he does manage to find the winner’s circle from time to time.

Dave’s mission was to meet me and to express his appreciation for the support the company provides locally in a couple of areas. That local support is minimal compared to our large investment in national advertising, but it is significant nonetheless. When we met for lunch, Dave thanked me for securing the name rights to the new AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minnesota and AMSOIL Speedway in Superior, Wisconsin. Both venues have considerable impact on the region social and economic well-being, as a hockey coach and stock-car driver Dave made it clear how important he thought our involvement was.

The conversation eventually turned to AMSOIL products. Dave first became aware of them many years ago. His friend’s father had been an extremely successful stock car driver and team owner in the Midwest, and Dave and his friends spent many hours at the track. They would wonder the pits, observing the mechanics and picking up tips where they could. Dave recalled the issues all the teams had with gears running hot. The mechanics would have to wear gloves or use old towels rags just to touch the overheated gearboxes. This was not the case in his friend’s father’s pit. There is no need for protection the gearbox was not hot to the touch and sold your loot was the difference his friend’s father explained, and Dave gained in education on synthetic oil.

Dave went on to describe a more recent experience. He attended a NASCAR race, and through his hockey connections was invited as a guest to the pit area. There, he had the opportunity to meet the crew of a successful NASCAR team. Dave asked about the lubricants NASCAR teams used, and the crew admitted that “brown–bagging” tactics were not uncommon. Despite commitments to use particular products, teams would conceal their oils of choice in nondescript packaging and add the fluids to the race vehicles behind closed doors. Regardless of what it said on the container the crew explained it was not uncommon to find AMSOIL in the container.

Neither of these stories is new to me. Three–time Indy 500 winner and racing legend Bobby Unser had the exact same experiences over 35 years ago. Bobby first discovered Amsoil products when he contacted me with a problem. The rear-end in his Pikes car was giving out after every run. It was an old unit and parts were impossible to find. Bobby’s crew was forced to fabricate parts continuously. Ultimately, I sent him some AMSOIL gear lube, and the rear and quit breaking. He could now run the entire season with absolutely no need for repairs. From that point on Bobby always spoke about how his crew could touch a gearbox fresh off the track because the gears ran so much cooler with AMSOIL.

And Bobby, too was guilty of brown-bagging. He tells the story of a race–day preparation when he was approached by a corporate big–shot. The guy was irate because he had seen Bobby’s crew putting AMSOIL in the vehicle. Under contract, Bobby was committed to another product. But when the big-shot was done blowing off steam, Bobby looked him straight in the eye. “Look,” he said, “I get paid to win races, so stay out of my business. This is how I win races.”

The central theme to all of this is product quality. From the start those who know lubrication have turned AMSOIL. A bit about the author-Steve Tichi…..

Well folks, I am a gear-head creative type, that makes things and likes to explore anything from hard to find/forgotten mines or ways to improve mechanical designs and even coming up with gadgets and gizmos never thought of.

Alivia has not edited this post yet and it will be fun to see what she does with this and many others. So far she has done one, and I admit during English class I should not of been drawing spaceships and futuristic fast thing. Often I reflect on this time period and folks, honestly I still am a big kid in many ways.  I dare to dream.

I have become wiser in ideas and concepts. I have recorded many items that have been stored away for my kids, grandkids and great-grandkids to build someday.  Many items, it is quite fun to see others get the same idea that I had years ago, and watch make it come to pass. This has been rewarding as numerous items have been very successful. Some of my original designs are still superior to current ones in the market place.

Am I bragging….? NO, us creative types have many similar traits, many of us are in fact dyslexic and are terrible at written english.  I took a 5 credit college class just a few short years back and worked my tail off. My final test I got an A+, within a month my new skills went by the wayside. Fortunately I took good notes, bottom line I concluded, its way more fun to make stuff then have proper English. With that said, I really need an Editor…. One that can get in my brain, and digest what I’m trying to say and break it down so others can grasp it.

I’m excited to see what this old friend can do….as I emerge into the world exposing cool technologies and moving forward with some neat items to help folks in many ways.  Generators, air-conditioners, vehicles, equipment, recreation devices and other items you will find at outdoor shops.

I first met Alivia, when I was a highly active, explorer, adventurer, Boy Scout working hard on becoming an Eagle Scout (Which I achieved with hard work and the help with some incredible mentor style Adults). In addition to this, I was one of the rare kids to have a real dirt bike at the time and I had my Hunting License. I was a cutting edge Kid that lived in the boondocks and had a modern “Where the Red Fern Grows-childhood”.

When Alivia first met me, I had a 5 gallon bucket filled with crayfish and I looked like a swamp monster.  It was great, Not only did I look like a swamp monster, I smelled like a swamp monster also.  Hey, forging in the swamp is hard work. I spent about 5 hours swimming like an otter using a snorkel mask with fins and using my make shift dive bell. I was an avid reader and owned 2 sets of encyclopedias and about 70 years of National Geographics collected and countless popular science and mechanic magazines. This avid late night reading inspired me to make all types of stuff. It gave my software a huge data base.

One thing Is fact, I truly am an adventurer. When I was about 12 is when the above happened.  One of many gadgets I made was a divers belt(a device that compensates your bouncy so you can dive and not have to struggle to stay under water.  I took 3- 1 gallon plastic milk jugs filled with gravel all tied together with impromptu style and made a quick release knot with a loop. Plus with my own money, from my 3 jobs, I earned a cool divers knife mounted on my leg.

By impromptu style, I mean the following: The first time I went underwater to get crawfish it was tough because, I was fighting staying under from my body wanting to float up. I knew I needed a divers belt to help hold me under.  I was not at home so I had to look at available material which the dumpsters in camp grounds are a great place for this and I saw some plastic milk jugs and the idea came to me. I could fill these with gravel tie them together put them around my waist and they would help me stay down longer. Some of my best ideas I have gotten when I was adventuring and did not have the proper equipment or I would think up a new way or improve on doing something.

Weird as it may be when I’m by water or running water, I think of all types of stuff and see solutions to problems and see stuff 3-d in my thoughts. Immediately, I write them down and use my own style of short hand to describe it. Im writing this to inform any body else, if your this way…Its ok, but learn to be wise or quickly you will learn what it means to cast perils before swine…Ouch…I said it. Learn how to evaluate ideas and make them and understand you have to prioritize them and honestly keep most of your creativity to yourself as a huge percentage of folks do not function this way and it is our job to advance them and help them, make stuff safer, and save them money and resources.

Honestly Thats one of the things I enjoy about Amsoil and other stuff I have used. One of the things that makes it better is it can be used for: Engines(allTypes),Transmissions and Hydraulic systems!

I had another neat gadget I made back in the swamp monster days that was quite simple. I had a large hard balloon filled with my breath and I fashioned a simple valve from a removed lock on my Boy Scout Sleeping bag cover. The push button cord lock worked perfect for a under water push button regulator.

I took the time to write out how to get a High O2 content in your own tank or balloon but my new Editor, felt it was way too complex to describe and I should post it on the Instructables web site. In summary I used a proprietary process for my large Balloon that had a high O2 content underwater,  Then I would tie the ballon to a rope and I found a 5 gallon bucket with a lid I mostly filled with rocks.

Under water I had an air station and could in fact stay under water for about 8 minutes (I timed it). The water was about 12 feet deep and I had catching crayfish down to a science.I would stage them under water in a one way manual holding tank I made. Also as I worked one area I turned it up under water like a mud hole. So after a while I would work another grid I called it, always working in visible work area and then rotating back to original grid.

Recently at ScuttleButt Brewery in Everett Washington, I was having dinner with Alivia and my wife and the old subject came up of our first meeting with me as the swamp monster, we all chuckled.

More on this story later  but Alivia is becoming our editor and is going to help me clean up my english…..But still allow me to abuse it capitalize stuff wrong and for visuals GO……… whenever I feel like.

You may not be aware of the term, microns, but if you have any desire to learn of keeping your engine, transmission and hydraulic system clean as a spacecraft, making it last and perform better keep reading. Pay attention and read this as well as other articles or aka Blogs.

Many have heard of microns and most of you know they are pretty small. This example below, will give you a better indication of what a micron is and why it’s important. One of the main ways it’s used is to establish standards for evaluating and rating filters. This is done by using international standards organization (ISO codes). It’s important for you to know two things about a filter and this data should be based on a test by an independent laboratory. You want to know how much sediment the filter will hold during its useful life and what sizes particles it removes.

Silicon and Soot are the two main contaminants in our equipment. Others are water, fuel, glycol and wear metals such as copper, lead, nickel, tin, chromium and others.

The most important steps in reducing silicon contamination is to make sure air filters fit properly, air is not by-passing, air ducts are tight and properly maintained. The largest soot particles is only one (1) micron but soot is very abrasive and also thickens the oil.

The major contributing factors to soot build-up is lugging the engine, idling, worn rings, worn injectors, incorrect fuel/air ratio and poor spray patterns. Soot forms as a result of a mixture that is too lean or too rich but the rich mixture is the major culprit causing the oil to thicken.

Water contamination may come from several causes with liner pitting being the major one.

The main causes of fuel contamination is rich mixture and poor spray pattern.  Performance Improver , Quick Shot and Diesel Concentrate removes this issue very nice and is why we recommend it, we recommend the best product for the Job.

All the above causes contribute to Overall Wear Metal Contamination. When soot thickens the oil the tight clearances may not receive proper lubrication and the abrasive soot contributes to the problem. Glycol also reduces the quality of the lubricant resulting in further wear of the metal surfaces.

Wear -The major cause of it and what can be done about it?

The simple answer, of course, is friction – but our interest is to focus on contaminants that increase friction to unacceptable limits.

Particle size is our major concern in controlling wear. Particles ranging from 10 to 20 microns are the major causes of wear. Larger particles as a rule are too large to get between the tight clearances of modern day equipment. Most folks do not realize by saving a few dollars they are using a inferior filter at 40 microns that has limited life span and basically allows wear material like sand paper to wear away you internals.  If you have a used Engine the use of a bypass filter can stop the wear that has already occurred and also increase the life span of the engine significantly.

The other particle sizes to be concerned about are what are described as ultra-fine which are in the 4 micron size and down. These can act as a lapping compound when they come in contact with surfaces. These ultra-fine particles can be monitored with wear metal analysis and they are removed by a good by-pass filter. Us teachers have our work cut out for us!

My goal is to be a patient, kind, humble teacher that can speak the language of the audience so the may receive the knowledge to understand.  For a young family on limited income it is silly and pointless to waste your money on somebody’s bill of Goods.. even stupid stuff like tire pressures and using your battery correctly adds up.  If you trash your car battery you have to spend money replacing it. My the way modern batteries can be put on the ground they do not discharge!  I tested it and it has been proven another myth created when batteries had another design.

I’m serious, I loose Em at 9+5-7. The same age group extended to Under 30 years old some in the military at the local drive in, I walked to the bathroom and counted countless folks with their car ignitions in the On position draining their batteries instead of using the ACC or accessories mode that is low amp draw. I marveled at how many did not know to start their car between shows to recharge and chuckled at the end when countless had dead batteries.  Folks were losing Basic knowledge in this country and many of the so called wise men are functioning on lack of education and following myths that were true 50 and 60 year ago because of inferior Petroleum oils and really bad filters or in many cases No filters at all!

If you don’t have an air compressor, go and buy an air storage tank that can store compressed air. Fill it up at the Gas station or your friend who has a compressor and keep air handy for your Saturday TvT vehicle check.

On your air can go to Sears or a harbor freight style company and get quick connect air fittings a yellow coiled air hoses and a good air filler, preferably one with a semi accurate pressure gauge. Always check your air with your digital pressure gauge.

Low tires are not round thus creating more surface area and more friction requiring more ponies to push em. Round tires travel and handle better and also your sidewalls are designed for proper tire pressure if you have to evasively swerve to avoid an accident.

Many people have spun out or rolled because improper tire pressure. Also low tires dramatically effect emergency braking.

You have to watch the tire shops like a hawk.  Sorry to say it all hype aside they want you to buy tires! and if properly inflated and rotated they will last. I rotate my tires every 500 miles and have to demand they properly inflate my tires to 42 psi My max is 44 PSI.  I have left the tire shop with tires at 32 psi and listened to stupid rhetoric excuses of this is what the car manufacture recommends… BS!! each tires design is stamped on the side.  I purposely ran my tires for 2000 miles tracking the fuel economy and I Lost 11 percent fuel efficiency! That translates to almost 40 cents a gallon loss or extra I had to pay to go the same distance. 40 cents times my 16 gallon tank is 6.40 cents. 3 fill ups to go 1000 miles means 19.20 thrown away.. Why???…. Because tire shop recommended PSI !!

So lets put this into perspective at tire shop PSI I have a 11 percent difference, If I was a diligent consumer and checked my tires once a week like I do, But maintained the tire shop recommendation guess what folks in 5000 miles money wise I have thrown 96 dollars away or literally almost the cost of a bran new Tire!  Did you catch how that worked? If I had proper tire pressure over the 5000 miles the extra 96 dollars would not of gone into the tank the savings would of gone into my car fund-which buy the way every one should build up so repairs and maintenance is not burden for your family in time if you use discipline your fund could buy you an upgraded car or replace a used one.  We help folks get way beyond the life expectancy of their vehicles and are building customer testimonies and such issues. The contacted party admitted to the fact that the vehicle has a  prior history of 190 thousand of abuse miles(the previous owner hauled horses and was notorious for abusing equipment-and for some reason after mechanical abuse the Poster I contacted thought good synthetics would solve years of abuse!) “HELLO ANY BODY HOME!” KNOCK KNOCK ON THE SKULL”-no proper fluid testing history always ran on petroleum grade fluid and the Poster admitted that his fluid was black when changed to Amsoil demonstrates many things with any body that knows any thing about transmissions would just shake their heads because they know what that means(It’s a no brainier! Dude your trans has a high chance of being a grenade or is near toast aka Kaput aka POS aka a soon to be Goner).

I Like Fact over Myths…. I don’t have time to hunt stupid people down and stupid postings on the internet but as I run across them I will engage them Unfortunately many no matter what you say or present facts still remain ignorant. I use Mobile one as a number two on my list because of the fact that so many manufactures from the factory use the product.  I know from testing in reality it ranks 6 and 7 in many statistics but name recognition is huge and honestly my world is not Flat but if some one likes Mobile One when they see Amsoil OE Motor Oils 2 dollars less than Mobile One that offers better protection many choose the better less expensive higher quality product. AS THE YEAR 2000 APPROACHES, it is both a time of looking forward, and of looking back. No one a century ago could have foreseen the rapid transformations that science and invention would bring to our world. From rocket ships to microwaves, silicon chips to Dolly the cloned ewe — it has been an astonishing period of history. I mean, a hundred years ago we didn’t even have gas stations. Or highways. Or flat tires.

One of the transforming developments of our century has been the discovery of the process of organic synthesis, the combining of the raw materials of production into a nearly limitless array of plastics, films, fabrics and fluids. By understanding the geometry of organic compounds, chemists could create customized molecular designs to achieve preconceived objectives. Scientists realized that they could actually improve the characteristics of items found in nature.

One by-product of this process has been the development of synthetic motor oil. It is believed that the first synthesized hydrocarbons were created by Friedel & Crafts in 1877 using Aluminum TriChrloride as the catalyst. Yet it wasn’t until 1929 that the commercial development of synthesized hydrocarbons was undertaken by Standard Oil of Indiana. Not surprisingly there was a lack of demand for the new product and this first marketplace introduction of synthetic lubricants was commercially unsuccessful. (There is probably no relationship between this event and collapse of stock market later that year.)

Eight years later the first PAO, a synthetic product using olefin polymerization, was manufactured. 1937 was also year that the Zurich Aviation Congress became interested in ester based lubricant technology. From 1938 to 1944 thousands of esters were evaluated in Germany with excellent results. In our own country ester basestocks were also being developed by the United States Naval Research Laboratory and introduced into military aviation applications during the 1940′s.

During this period scientists were well funded, and the new processes of synthetic creation had some great success. But as is so often the case, the existence of a “better mousetrap” does not always result in its commercial survival.

It was the space age that helped create a greater appreciation for the benefits of synthetic lubricants. Jet engines raised the bar on what was required of a lubricant. The high speed, high heat and cold temperature performance requirements of modern jets created a demand for a new kind of lubricant.

Just after the war we saw the first use of diesters by the British in turboprop engines for high temperature performance. And from the late forties to the early seventies various synthetic fluids were developed to meet the demands of new and more efficient high performance engines and machines.

Because of the self-evident cold weather benefits of synthetic jet engine oil, it would not have been difficult to find a few maverick pilots experimenting with this oil in their cars. The military paid thirty-five dollars a quart for synthetic oil in those days and even the used jet engine oil seemed clean enough for some pilots in Alaska and elsewhere to mix with their motor oil to assist cold winter starts.

One such experimenter took a more systematic approach. In the mid-1960′s, Lt. Col. Albert J. Amatuzio, jet fighter squadron commander at a northern Minnesota airbase, likewise had become familiar with these “extra ordinary” lubricants that protected the engines of the jets he flew. He began a research project that eventually became his life work and second career.

At first, Amatuzio’s efforts were aimed at improving the performance of petroleum oil.

Eventually, Amatuzio realized the need to begin with a synthetic basetock and build his ideal lubricant from the ground up. His search led him to Monsanto, Drew Chemical Corporation and Hatco. It was Drew Chemical Corporation in Boonton, New Jersey, where the first polyol esters had been developed and patented in conjunction with Mobil Chemical in 1958. Mobil Oil’s Jet Engine Oil II was based on the fluids produced at Drew Chemical.

The truth is, automobiles put even more stress on a lubricant than jet engines because air aspirated car engines must deal with dirt and the messy by-products of combustion. The problem was how to bring the expanded temperature range performance, wear protection and service life of a synthetic into an automotive setting. Amatuzio believed he had found a way.

According to Jack Arotta, a Duluth Minnesota businessman today, “I was the first guy to put it (a specially formulated 100% synthetic motor oil) in a brand new car, a 1966 Ford Station Wagon. Al was my squadron commander up at the air base, so I always use the joke that since Al was my squadron commander, how could I not put it in when he told me to.”

Actually, for more than a year Jack had been putting a variety of Al’s synthetic formulations in his previous cars, so he did not feel that he was putting his vehicle at serious risk. After several more years of fine tuning his formulation, AMZOIL (Amatuzio-oil) was created and became the first 100% synthetic diester based engine oil to pass the API sequence tests and receive API qualification in 1972.

The following year Mobil Oil began marketing the first PAO based engine oil overseas and in 1975 they began test marketing a synthetic PAO based synthetic in the U.S. called Mobil 1.

Over time a growing niche of consumers became aware of the performance benefits synthetic offered. As additional products were developed, from synthetic diesel oil to two cycle oils, synthetic transmission fluids and gear lubes, so grew the interest. With growing market opportunity, more companies made contributions in the development of basestock fluids and new technologies, including the Gulf Oil Company (since acquired by Chevron), Chevron Corporation, Amoco, Ethyl Corporation, Exxon, Henkel, Castrol, Uniroyal, Lubrizol, Neste Chemical, and Texaco (additive technology and synfluids since acquired by Ethyl).

By the mid-nineties nearly every oil company carried a high end synthetic motor oil in its product line, though only a few companies seem truly dedicated to promoting them. Nevertheless, synthetic lubricants are currently the fastest growing segment of the oil industry and they are definitely here for the long haul.

Warranties and the Magnuson-Moss Act

Congress in 1975 enacted the federal Magnuson-Moss Act to regulate written consumer product warranties. An examination of the law reveals warranties remain intact when AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants are used. Mobile One does not offer a warranty like Amsoil, This is also a key reason why they are number two on our list.

The law was meant to give consumers detailed information about warranty coverage before they buy.

Congress charged the Federal Trade Commission with creation of the specifics of the law. Because countless industries most notorious, car dealers and equipment manufactures were and do lie to the consumer.

The FTC set down three rules under the Act: the Disclosure Rule, the Pre-Sale Availability Rule and the Dispute Resolution Rule.

Those rules require warrantors to title their written warranty as either full or limited, provide a single, clear and easy-to-read document that spells out certain information about coverage and ensure that warranties are available where the products are sold so that consumers can read them before buying.

In passing the Act, Congress meant to give consumers access to warranty information, let consumers’ comparison shop for warranties, encourage warranty competition and promote timely and complete performance of warranty obligations.

While the Magnuson-Moss Act does not require manufacturers to provide a written warranty, it provides specific rules when one is provided. Among those provisions, FTC regulations state: (c) No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumers using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection may be waived by the Commission if (1) the warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and (2) the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest. (15 U.S.C.2302(C))

That means your warranty stands when you use AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants.

Vehicle manufacturers recommend lubricants according to their viscosity grade and service classification. Any oil, whether it’s conventional petroleum motor oil or synthetic, meeting the correct viscosity grade, 5W-30 for example, and the current API and ILSAC North American service classifications may be used without affecting warranty coverage. AMSOIL motor oils are recommended for use in applications requiring these and any and all current specifications.

Furthermore, the practice of extending oil drain intervals does not void warranties. Original equipment manufacturers pay or deny warranty claims based on the findings of failure analysis. To affect the vehicle warranty, the lubricant must be directly responsible for the failure. If the oil didn’t cause the problem the warranty cannot be voided, regardless of brand or length of time in use.

Synthetic motor oil was introduced to the automotive public in 1972 by AMSOIL, INC., with the world’s first API rated synthetic motor oil specially formulated for long service and superior performance and protection to that of conventional oils.

Nearly 40 years ago, AMSOIL synthetics represented a vision of the future and technology ahead of their time. To be sure, many original equipment manufacturers would like you to believe you can only use their products. However, it’s a violation of the Federal consumer protections set forth in the Magnuson-Moss Act, unless they’re willing to provide you those products free of charge.

It’s a fact people don’t read today…they skim….If you don’t catch “em” in 7 seconds they are gone.  My blogs contain very good thought provoking information and for the future I will be making Quick Videos.

People perish for a lack of knowledge and part of that is due to the fact folks just simply do not read like they used to. The Following was provided by the Chicago Tribune on March 13, 2011.  I would like to make an editorial comment that is very relevant.  First with the silly 3000 oil change myth, there is more that goes into the equation to make it a reality.  Under standing the base of the oils and the additive package that allows proper Lubricants to function is vital.  Along with the understanding of alkaline and acidic base numbers and how it affects the true scope of things. This with proper science and testing debunks any and all myths.  I have tested many Lubricants and Tore down engines, gear boxes and transmissions to give qualification of fact to the statements I publish.  Folks the Earth is not Flat and we have technology in place to extend the life of vehicles and better use technologies regarding our vehicles that most can not conceive. In polite company you don’t talk about sex, religion, politics — or oil changes. Frequency of oil changes brings out the car experts in all of us — and some fierce opinions.

Some swear by the 11th commandment, “Thou shalt change thy oil every 3,000 miles.” But nowadays, many say that’s a waste of money. You need to change oil about every 7,500 miles.

“The vast majority of American commuters are changing their oil way too often and wasting a lot of money in the process,” said Philip Reed, senior consumer advice editor for auto website Edmunds.com.

Here are some questions and answers to help you change oil often enough to protect your car but not so often that you’re wasting money, with help from Reed; Gary Pollak, program manager of technical projects at the Society of Automotive Engineers; and Pam Oakes, a technician certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

Why change?

Besides the obvious job of lubricating metal parts of an engine, oil also acts as a coolant by reducing friction and dispersing heat. It’s also a cleaner, trapping tiny particles. Oil becomes dirty and doesn’t work as well over time. So you need to drain the old stuff.

And the 3,000-mile rule?

This used to be the standard, and a good one. “It was true when our father told us that,” Reed said. But things have changed. Both engine technology and oil formulations have improved, allowing you to travel longer between oil changes.

Repair and oil-change shops confuse the issue. They affix to your windshield what Reed calls “that horrible little sticker” as a reminder to change oil in three months or 3,000 miles. “People are really busy, and they rely on the sticker, but it’s really a marketing tool,” he said.

Change how often?

The average car’s oil change interval is 7,800 miles, Edmunds found. Consumer Reports says most people would be fine changing oil every 7,500 miles or six months. But averages don’t necessarily apply to your car. The best rule is this: Check the maintenance section of your manufacturer owner’s manual.

What’s “severe” driving?

This is the loophole through which many repair shops drive their overly cautious advice about 3,000-mile oil changes.

Reed’s advice? “Severe means severe,” he said. So that means off-roading in the desert, towing heavy loads or really abusing a vehicle — think taxicab or delivery van, he said.

Trust the dashboard?

Yes. Newer vehicles have monitoring systems for oil. For 2010 vehicles, 14 of 35 carmakers had oil-life monitoring systems that have sensors that monitor your driving and certain vehicle conditions. Based on that information, the system uses an algorithm to estimate how dirty the oil is and alerts you when an oil change is needed.
